Emphasizes lender representation and commercial real estate transactions

​

Named as one of Virginia’s “Go to Lawyers" for commercial real estate law, Chris DeMers focuses his practice on commercial lending and real estate transactions. Chris has documented and closed more than $3 billion in commercial loan transactions secured by real estate, business assets, deposit accounts, marketable securities, and accounts receivable.

​

Chris represents and advises national, regional, and community banks in connection with secured lending transactions including commercial real estate loans, development and construction loans, C&I and working capital asset-based loans, SBA loans, and other lending transactions.  Chris works with his clients to develop loan terms and structure, draft and negotiate loan documents, conduct borrower and collateral due diligence, and close lending transactions.

​

Chris is experienced in counseling clients on a range of corporate matters, including establishing and organizing corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and non-profit corporations. He also represents landlords, tenants, developers, and property owners in connection with commercial leases and other commercial real estate transactions involving the sale, leasing, financing, and development of commercial real estate. In addition, Chris has represented community associations in the areas of corporate governance, covenant enforcement, contracting, and developer transition.
